What's New!

A few months ago, I decided to offer Craft Packs for those who might be interested in doing smaller projects but didn't want to invest in a whole box. My husband came up with the idea of Mini-rolls but I scoffed at the idea. Well, he proved me wrong...we did a small case study and it seems people are interested in such a thing, so we've decided to launch it at Wallpaper Illusions.

So for those of you who have a smaller project, like covering an island in a kitchen or around a fireplace, or if you just need to patch up an area that's already papered, consider purchasing a mini-roll instead of a whole box. An economical solution for a smaller job. Be sure to check it out!

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

These may not be frequently asked questions, but they are questions asked by people like you. Perhaps you might need the same answers...

Q: Do I need to prime or size the walls that came in the manufactured home we bought? This is a brand new home so is it possible to just put up the paper?

A: The manufacturer recommends always priming the walls with wallpaper primer prior to hanging Paper Illusions wallpaper.

Q: I plan to use PaperIllusions on my kitchen countertops and then seal with multiple coats of Minwax Polycrylic. My counters are laminate and what I'd like to know is do you suggest priming them prior to using the PaperIllusions or do I just need to clean them thoroughly?

A: Yes, you would need to still prime them before applying the Paper Illusions. Sand them a little bit first to give the primer something to adhere to, then wash well and allow to dry. Then prime with wallpaper primer. After the primer has dried, then you can start with the Paper Illusions. Proper preparation ahead of time will pay off tremendously in the long run.

Q: My...concern...is how to deal with the grooves in the wood paneling? The grooves aren't too deep, however, they aren't too minor to the point where you would not notice them; they do seem noticeable (my main reason for not wanting to paint these walls). So, how do I tackle this issue if I were to use this wallpaper?

A: If the grooves are 1/4" wide or less, then this paper will bridge the gap. I know it's hard to imagine, but it's true. I've done demonstrations personally showing how the paper covers the paneling, and leaves no trace of grooves behind.

Otherwise, if the grooves are wider, you may need to fill them in with putty (spackle compound used in drywall) and sand them down.

If you are unsure, I recommend ordering a sample and test it in an obscure area. You will need to clean the area first, apply wallpaper primer and let dry. Then hang the paper illusions (tear, dip & apply).

If you have a question that you'd like answered, don't hesitate to ask. Just email me and if I don't know the answer, I'll track down someone who does.

Tips & Testimonials

Some more great testimonials & tips...

TESTIMONIAL: (What I liked best was...) how easy it is to use, and no matching the pattern and it looks so expensive. ~ Starla Knox

TIP: I have done three rooms and getting ready to do another and I love the Paper Illusions. I have done the bedroom ceiling in dark blue with glow in the dark stars and am doing the walls in the light blue paper. My biggest helpful hint would be to do what I do -- separate the paper as you tear it so you have the part for the edge and the ragged edge separated -- saves lots of time. I put the paper in trash bags - easy to handle on the ladder and if you don't finish that day -- easy to store!!! Love this stuff!!!! ~ Patty Cakes

TESTIMONIAL: This product helped me to cover some dark old wood paneling. I did have to putty some of the lines, and then applied the paper. The wall now looks clean and fresh. Thanks for a good solution to an old problem. ~ Carol Champion
